15 NoBad Winter Adventures

…for the whole fam bam!

This isn’t your normal winter activity list…this is the Nobad Winter Adventures list.

Behold…

The Nobad Winter Adventure List

  1. Nite Lite Hike – put on some headlamps or wrap up in Christmas lights, then go hiking after dark.
  2. Swedish Lanterns – make a dome out of snowballs, put a candle in the middle, and let it glow!
  3. Cut the Christmas Tree – Check your local forest service for permits, then go cut down a tree together.
  4. Snow Shoeing – Got snow? Then you can snowshoe. Even in your own backyard!
  5. Ice Skate Outdoor Rink – Check online for local outdoor rinks! Most have skate rentals.
  6. Snow Painting – Grab some plastic condiment squeeze bottle, add some water and food coloring, and paint the snow!
  7. Snow Plow Piles – Make sure they’re nice and clean. Snow plow piles can be sledding hills, forts, mountains to climb, castles to conquer, and so much more.
  8. Donut Star Gazing – Buy some donuts (or donut holes), drive out of the city, and go star gazing. Maybe throw in some hot coco or apple cider.
    • When our kiddos were toddlers, we loaded them up in the car one night after dinner, stopped a grabbed donut holes from the closest grocery store and drove up to a ski resort nearby to watch the cats groom the slopes. It turned out to be so cool!
  9. Outdoor Smores & Hot Coco: Have an outdoor fire pit or solo stove? Invite some friends over, turn on the Christmas jams and have a outdoor winter hang.
  10. Hooky Bobbing: Please do so with caution. Hook up a 4-wheeler or fat tire bike.
  11. Nordic Night Skiing: If you live in an area with snow, check out to see if local resorts offer this. We didn’t even know this was a thing until a couple years ago and has turned into a tradition. Even if there isn’t anything official in your community, slap on some head lamps and get skiing!
  12. Ice Castles: There are several areas in the country where ice castles are built in the winter months, see if you live near one!
  13. Fresh Snow Cones: Always avoid yellow snow, unless you scooped clean, white snow into a cup and added lemonade flavoring. Bahaha. Anyways, you probably already have syrup flavors in your home, just add it to some snowballs.
  14. Winter Picnic: This is a perfect activity for those sunny, blue sky, wintery days. Head to the mountains or local park, eat good food and play in the snow.
  15. Zoo Visit: The NBWkiddos would do this every January with their preschool and it was amazing. The animals were active and there were very few people there. Highly recommend.

And because we like ya, we’ve made a free download where you can document your NoBad Winter Adventures!

If you live in an area that does not have the necessary items to complete something on the list, no sweat! We added a couple “blank template” pages to add your own.

We hope this list helps you think of your own outdoorsy ideas. Get creative! It’s just winter, not a death sentence. There’s so much opportunity to do new things! …Or the same ole thing but in the cold and/or dark. Which is actually pretty fun.

Here’s our list…

We have a few more to snag!

Don’t cancel plans, make more this winter season. Go outside!
